Introduction: Meet Donna. She has North Jersey roots and spent most of her life living and working in and around New York City before making her way south to Wilmington. It did not take long for Donna to fall in love with the coastal lifestyle, nearby beaches, and especially the charm of Wilmington’s historic downtown. With a background in building envelope restoration engineering (that's right!) she has a deep appreciation for the architecture and character that give the city its personality. She has an insider eye that she is happy to share with guests along the way. Donna appreciates great food and creative cocktails. She loves to go out to dinner and often plans vacations around where she wants to eat and drink - and any food tours or bar crawls being offered. In addition to leading tours, Donna also works part time with Aphasia Recovery Connection, an award winning nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals impacted by aphasia, a language disorder that affects millions of Americans. Being part of that work is incredibly meaningful to her. You can find Donna leading tours through Wilmington’s downtown, introducing guests to local favorites, sharing stories about the city’s history and architecture, and making every stop feel welcoming, lively, and fun. For her, food tours combine all of her favorite things: eating, drinking, walking, laughing, exploring, and meeting new people. As she likes to say after a tour ends, her “feet did not hit the ground for the entire three hours.”
Fun Tidbits: -Choosing a favorite food is nearly impossible, but pizza and tacos are always near the top of Donna's list. -Mezcal cocktails will almost always get her attention. -She loves sharing funny and interesting food stories and pointing out other great places to visit that are not on the tour. -Donna frequents many of Wilmington’s other neighborhoods (often referred to as districts) and is always happy to make area-wide recommendations and share weekly specials happening all over town to her guests.
