Tours: Charlotte
Johnny Wright
Intro: Meet Johnny. If Charlotte had an official hype man, it might just be him. A true Charlotte native, Johnny has spent the past 15 years living in and around Uptown, getting to know the city block by block and bite by bite. When he is not out on tour, Johnny stays close to the action. He bartends part time, is a native plant whisperer, and he works as a personal assistant, which means he has truly mastered the art of juggling people, places, and experiences. Luckily for us (and for you), that energy carries right into his tours. Ask Johnny why he loves what he does, and the answer is pretty simple: "Not many jobs let you walk, talk, and eat your way through your own city while meeting people from all over the world." For him, it is all about sharing Charlotte’s food scene and making connections along the way. Aaaand, if you need a little proof that he is very good at what he does, Johnny was recognized in 2026 at Charlotte’s Partners in Tourism awards, taking home the Outstanding Ambassador award. It is a title that fits him perfectly, thanks to the passion, kindness, and genuine hospitality that he brings to every single tour.
About me: A few things you might learn about Johnny along the way: 1) Carbs are always a good idea. 2) He is all about that umami flavor (うま味). 3) There is a good chance he will have a recommendation for what to eat next… and next after that, too. (Tour guests tend to stay in touch with Johnny for years asking for Charlotte recommendations.)
